During the pretzel demonstration by Deb from Smitten Kitchen, it was mentioned that this would be good to try with sausage.
I made it a few weeks ago with hot dogs for the kids. Tonight I did it for the grown ups.
I took Deb's pretzel recipe and wrapped it around delicious store bought sausage.

The end result? A perfect wrap for the sausage!

Those look delicious and they are beautiful to behold. Your family gets such great love from you.
I had a cousin say "food is not love, food is not love." Then why-oh-why do we express it in such a way?!
OK, um, just to make sure ... do I boil the pretzels first, and then boil them again *with* the sausage? Or do I boil the sausage first, and then boil them again *with* the pretzels? Clearly, I'm not smart enough to make this.
You are fine to make this Kristie!
OK clarification-
If you are making plain and sausage pretzels, boil the plain ones first. That way you don't get sausage water flavor on the plain pretzel.
Sausage pretzel: make dough, rise, divide into pieces, roll into long strips just like you would a pretzel, but instead of making a pretzel shape, wrap it around the sausage. Let is set for 15 min, (just like the plain pretzels) then boil, then cook.
Ahhh, ok. That makes sense. :)
I express it that way because that is what my mom taught me. To this day that is the way she shows her concern/love for you. I know for sure the Mac and cheese is at it's best when it is made with love. I still tease her with "food is not love thing" too. Old habits are hard to break.
