Family night - 5-04-09 recap

Family Night- a time set aside

Keeping it real

Song: Luke the song he always picks- Nephi's Courage

Scripture/thought: Savanna - Be ... grateful, smart, clean, true, humble, prayerful, positive, still, involved.

Prayer: Mom

Lesson: Dad- He reminded us that each Sunday when we hear the Sacrament prayer we remember our commitment to take Christ's name. What does that mean?
What do we want people to think of when they hear our name Spear? (We all gave examples: kind, trustworthy, happy, on time, helpful, hard working)
When people see us or hear our name we want them to think good things. We would also hope that they would know that we have taken upon us the name of Christ.

Activity: Jack- Clue Jr

Treat: Tucker- helped Mom make Chocolate Chip cookies for the first time. After asking what he wanted to make (and getting the kids to stop offering suggestions of what they wanted) Tucker decided on cookies. When I asked him what we needed he paused and then said eggs. Then I took him to the pantry to see if he knew what else we needed. He said sprinkles. Then he spied the large Chocolate Chip bag and he enthusiastically said we would be having "choc chip kees."

pointing to the "chip"

measuring out flour

keeping hands out of the way while the mixer is mixing

cracked an egg by himself, but was not so pleased with the mess

reassured him it was ok- that was supposed to happen
(when I tucked him into bed he told me again all about "the mess")

showing off his hard work

I just think this is the greatest idea that you keep a record of these, Alisa. And to have the cookie process in pictures? Perfect.

Tell Tucker I don't like when the eggs get on *my* hands, either. :)

The pictures of cooking are great. I remember the first time I had help making mashed potatoes. What memories.

Just so you know, when I read that Jay's lesson was on what people think when they hear the name Spear I thought "worthy of emulation." Sure- I know that you can probably pick out a few things that your family needs to improve on, every family has them- but when I think about you guys I think that it would be good to pick up some of the Spear's habits.
