This was not what I had planed to do for my SPT-
Its not the photo that I orignally took.
This was taken totally spur of the moment when I had one of those lightbulb moments that I thought- "hey this goes right along with the SPT this week!"
Every week our city comes and drains the fire hydrant at the top of the street. We live at the bottom end of the neighborhood right where the storm drains are.
So everyweek we watch the street fill up (all but the middle by about 4 feet) and just go down the drain.
They say its to clean out the pipes, because a few in the neighborhood have complained of the water tasting funny.
Well every time I see the water in the street and my lawn just a foot away up the curb I imagine the grass just straining for a drink. Water water every where, but not a drop to drink it thinks!
I have jokingly said that we needed to figure out a way to harness all that water to pull up to our lawn.
And then I started saying that I really should just go out with some buckets and at least water the flowers with it.
Well today I finally did.
I grabbed our trashcan, and had the kids with pitchers and we pulled up round after round of water.
It was hard work.
The kids were so excited.
It got Jack's mind turning of how to rig something up to water the lawn.
Savanna wanted to make notes and leave them with all the neighbors explaining how they could get "free" water.
We did as much as we could until the water was moving at a trickle and we could not scoop anymore.
And then you know what happened?
It started to rain.
Here are some other takes on water-

Don't you know that life just works out that way! It always seems to rain just after you wash the car too. I love how Jack and Savanna wanted to do more.
I loved it when this used to happen when I was little. Every week thought, that is amazing. We would sail little leaf boats down the street.
