I blogged about our mower here.
Really this thing is old.
Jay and I both mow the lawn. I love doing it. It is kind of therapeutic, and I love the completed task. I love that it takes almost a whole week to be "undone" or "messed up." How many chores can you say that about?
I love it until my allergies get the best of me. Then Jay kindly takes over.
Late last summer I walked outside to see this:

Jay was still mowing.

It still ran.

He fixed it somehow, and it ran for the rest of the mowing season.

Well it is that time again. Yesterday in the brief 2 hour span of sunshine-
( I guess I could have posted about how old this rain is getting, I know I should not complain, but I need some sun to be happy!)-I quickly pulled out the mower and hoped for the best. After a brief tugging and pulling session it started! I was so excited. I made it through the whole front lawn and part of the back before I ran out of gas.

I do think this may be the year to retire the old beast. It has served us well for 5 years. (remember I paid $5 for it, that's $1 a year!) But we now have one small problem. It won't turn off. When you release the handle it keeps on a chugging. It takes some mighty shaking of the mower to convince it to stop. I am a little concerned for safety. While I am so thankful that it runs and stays on, what do I do if I am pressed for it to stop?

I don't like to mow but I do it regularly, but I do like the feeling of accomplishment it brings. I love that the mower only cost $5 --that's incredible.

I am very rarely allowed to mow the lawn. I thing Big Daddy enjoys it for the same reason you do.

okay, i strongly agree that mowing the lawn is awesome therapy!

is anyone else dying to see video of you trying to turn that thing off? i don't know why, but that has to be the most entertaining notion i've had all day!!

This kinda reminds me of what i say about it taking two people to paint a picture...One to paint it and the other to tell them when to stop!
You stopping the mower is like someone prying the paint brushes out of my hands to stop me. Some times it takes some shaking.

doesn't it make you feel all empowered to buy a mower for $5 AND use it??? Kuddos!
